Pollo Palazzo. The New Coop.

I just added this to the coop section but I thought I'd stick it in here as well to get a little feedback.  I really enjoyed doing this as I haven't had chickens in my backyard since I was a kid.  One of my earliest memories was my grandmother grabbing a chicken for dinner and collecting eggs in my grandfathers barn.

I'll start with some pictures:

The Coop!  All the posts are 4x4's and cemented into the ground.  The coop sits up off the ground about 2 feet.

This is finished except for the landscaping.

Back of the coop showing large doors for cleaning.

Doors open showing the windows and the roosts/poop catchers.

Closeup of the roosts preloaded with Sweet PDZ. there are 2 roosts that are both removable and easy to clean.

The girls and their first day in the run sunning themselves after an exhausting morning catching bugs and playing chicken in the grass.  Now all I have to worry about is catching them this evening and getting them in the coop.

How big is it? It looks like a nice small one to start with, until you open it! Then, either your electric hen is a doll-size version or the coop is massive.

It's a Chicken Tardis!  Bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.  Nice work!  Must have used your sonic screwdriver...  Cute chicks, too...

The coop is 4X8' an the run is 8X16 which includes the chicken porch under the coop.

It was fun trying to get them in the coop for the first time last night.  I tried to do it alone when it was still a little light out.  They thought the whole thing was great fun.  I'd put one in and they would turn around an come right back down the ramp.  At least they thought it was a great game.  I came back after dark and put a flashlight in the coop and had my wife stand guard at the pop hole.  I guess they figured it was better where the light was because they stayed in.  My son checked on them later an said they were all huddled on the opposite side of the coop from the heater, crazy birds.

When I opened up this morning they were all under the heat and it only took them about 20 minutes to figure out how to get back in the run where they are having a great time.

I really like your roost design.  Is the poop board also removable or only the roost?  I'd love to see more detailed photos of how you designed it if you have any.
