My indian runner had been sitting on a clutch of 13 eggs for a few weeks, when I came out to check on her this afternoon there was a broken egg and a dea duckling lyying on the opposite side of the pen. Did she do this?

When is hatch day? Maybe the duckling hatched and died and she removed it from under her.? so sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure when she started sitting so I don't know a hatch date but it was full developed, but it hadn't absorbed the yolk.

You know you will just have to trust her judgement unless you see otherwise. just keep an eye out for problems but don't create any either by assuming she did this on purpose. Hopefully the rest will hatch without incident.  Keep us updated!! fl.gif
