Adorable, all of them!! These kids clearly love their chickens :)

Ahh chicken math! Not even sure anymore how many we have. We hatched our first egg from our own flock on 9/7 while our son was home alone. hoping a few more will join him/ her soon :)

I have a bunch of pics of my son and chicks, but unfortunately they're all stuck on my cell phone right now. :(

Well, except for this one. Here's the day we brought our silkie Scully home. She was in a box in the back seat with him, but he couldn't wait the 20 minutes it took to get home to open the box. She sat in his lap the whole way back.

Mom to one rambunctious 4-year-old, and the one who brings the food to my "blended family" of several coturnix and a silkie hen. (Flock? Covey? Flovey?) Proud chicken momma of 2 easter eggers, 2 speckled sussex, and 2 silver cuckoo marans, and beginning the adventure of hatching coturnix eggs.

I introduced my 5 year old granddaughter to my 4 hens this afternoon. My granddaughter had never gathered eggs and had never seen eggs in a nesting box before today. Luckily, two of the gal's produced right before we got to my chicken tractor.

After gathering the eggs, her comment to me was priceless . . . "Maw-Maw's, it's a little bit like Easter, isn't it??"

She's visiting for the week so she will have an opportunity to get to know our hen's and do a lot more egg gathering. And we're all looking forward to breakfast in the morning!
