These are my first chickens, gifts from a daughter for Christmas. Once they started laying, it's rare to have a day without one egg from each hen. They come when I call them, stay close to the...

White leghorns carry a dominant white gene which means the offspring will be almost solid white with just 2 or 3 spots of black.
I had almost the same question.I have a very small bantam hen thats black, most likely a mix of some type, and a white old english roo.She doesn't lay much.I hatched 3 of hers right after I got her and they are more black than red.I have since put the white with her and out of 3 fertile eggs I hatched one white with black specks chick. The other two that were fertile died after lockdown and I checked them and they were the same white with black specks.I'm wondering if the one I hatched will stay this color of will it loose the black specks or even turn black.I have let her go without a roo because i was thinking of trying a different one but I think I will try this cross again.
You'll get mixed breeds aka barnyard mix. This cross will be probably be colored as nurse turtle said, but won't be any "breed". Probably prolific layers of big white eggs.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!
