Hiya Guys!

Just joined up to the forum!
We've got three bantam chicks around 4-5 months of age approx so they are getting to be real ladies and are almost full-grown.
Then yesterday we got two other little ones which are approx. 6 wks of age. They are very small compared to the other chicks but are also bantams, except that they are alot more fancy then are oldest chicks.

Anyway, I was wondering how best I can tame them? I know that you should start handling your chicks a.s.a.p. if you want them tame but these ones are already 6 wks old approx, so how can I best go about it? They can already fly quite well and one of the two is already quite a tom-girl a real escape artist and all that. =)
They had quite a stressful day yesterday with the travelling and one of them escaping twice and of course they are in a different pen now then in their old home.
What treats can I give them? I heard greens aren't very good becaue they can get diarrhoea and may get mucky bottoms which particulary in chicks is a no-no. Are meal worms okay to give the little chicks? Anyway, all advice appreciated! =)

I give my chick greens and they poop fine. Spinach is a firm favourite here, I actually have a huge section of my veg garden planted with spinach for the chickens. You can give them mealworms, clever way to get them tame. Introduce them to it and then, once they're hooked, leave it in your hand and let them come closer to eat it. But be patient, it could take awhile! I did this with a bunch of chicks, next thing you know they'll be sitting on your lap. Also spent lots of time with them, talk to them and let them associate you with good things, like food and treats.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) in their drink water would help with "mucky bottoms" and is a fantastic general well being booster. Add 2-3 tablespoons to a gallon water.

I strongly agree on the spinach. It's my flock's favorite treat and they have no diarrhea from it. They like dark green lettuce almost as much, and they also love inchworms. The inchworms hang down from the tree near their coop and the chicks pick them like apples

Mine like cherry tomatoes and meal worms! I will have to try the spinach again because the first time I tried it they were not impressed.
