Explaining Chicken Math

here are the 4 chicks I decided to get.

I have a serious dilemma. I have room or 10 more chickens. If (ugh! WHEN!) I go over that number, I still have plenty of room in the building (a shed) to build on. I am ordering chicks in a few days. 10 chicks will be $.90 more than 15. I don't think I will be able to go to TSC in the spring without buying more chicks, so ... Should I just order the 15, and start building?

Duh!!! You asked that question in this thread??? Grab that hammer (and plan for more than 15 if that is the direction you want to go).

We need a guide to more acronyms that that! How about all the initials for all the chicken breeds? Before I became indoctrinated, BO meant something very different than "buff orpington!" And when the knowledgeable people let out all the stops, it's absolutely mind-boggling. Anybody want to start up a list for newbies before somebody sees BA and thinks we're making an exhibitionist statement!
