Hi from Newcastle, Australia

Hi!

My name is Natalee and I live in Newcastle Australia. I have had chickens as pets since I was a kid but my partner and I have just started our own little brood of chicks and they are oh so cute!

I want to collect the prettiest, most out there kind of chickens and my partner wants the ones that lays the most eggs haha.

We started out with two Arucana's and a Frizzle. They were four weeks old and unfortunately they died in the first two days from the cold. I felt so terrible! But we have since learned how to make sure they are kept warm until they have all of their feathers.

We then got 3 silkies x arucana pullets and they are all doing really well. We think two are laying but they seem to only be laying one egg between them every two days now where one was laying every day and the other every second day for about a week.

One of them was a bit of an escapee and decided to spend a few nights on our neighbours clothesline before we found her and brought her home. We have had these three for nearly three weeks now.

Last weekend be bought two beautiful little silkies but unfortunately one was sick when we bought it and it died over night from coccidiosis. The other one is so cheeky! We were told they were 4 weeks old but I am certain they were only about 2 weeks old.

The next day we bought 2 arucanas and frizzle, all 4 weeks old and all very healthy. They have all been wormed and treated with coccivet for the coccidiosis.

We are planning on getting a barred plymoth rock and a polish bantam as well as an isa brown in the very near future.

I will post some photos soon.

Thanks for reading!

Natalee
