How do I introduce my dog to the electric fence?

I am preparing to move my 5 week old ducks outside to their house and electronet.  My dog just killed one of my ducks when he accidentally got out of the house, so I am trying to figure out the best way to introduce my dog to the electronet.  However, I don't want the ducks to be in danger when I do it.  Is one shock usually enough to deter a dog or will he keep trying?

I also need to start working with my dog on focusing on me rather than the ducks, as one other member suggested.

I would buy some border flags...normally only 2 bucks for a fifty pack and place them a foot or two from electronet so your dog has a visual boundary...then allow your dog to get shocked once or twice and shell know not to cross paths with the flag
