Our First Coturnix Quail Hatch

Thread Starter

My dad & I bought two dozen Japanese/Coturnix quail eggs at our local auction. We ended up with 20 at the time of hatch. They should have hatched between June 8-10 but didn't start until June 12. We had four hatch on the 12th, 2 hatch on the 13th, and 1 hatch on the 14th. The last one to hatch had very curled toes and it couldn't hold it's neck up. It ended up dying on day two. They hatched so late that I didn't think they were going to hatch at all and the incubator's humidity wasn't correct. We have six healthy chicks now!

I now have 15 bobwhite eggs in the incubator. Hoping for a better hatch rate this time around.

Mom to one rambunctious 4-year-old, and the one who brings the food to my "blended family" of several coturnix and a silkie hen. (Flock? Covey? Flovey?) Proud chicken momma of 2 easter eggers, 2 speckled sussex, and 2 silver cuckoo marans, and beginning the adventure of hatching coturnix eggs.
