Curious about blue eggs.

Thread Starter

Just got 5 chickens and the guy I bought them from said that one of them laid blue eggs.  I believe that I have 1 New Hampshire Red hen, 1 Croad Langshan hen, 2 black hens that I believe are Barnevelders & 1 hen that I haven't a clue about.  She brown, tan & white, smaller than the others.  I believe she's the one that he said laid the blue eggs, but I just don't know enough about them.  Been trying to research in my books, but can't find too much listed.  Does anyone know much about blue eggs or the type of hens that lay them?

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

I have 3 Easter Egger hens, one lays blue eggs, one lays light/medium green eggs, and the other lays olive green eggs.  Perhaps you have an EE?  welcome-byc.gif

There are a couple of chickens that lay blue eggs. Most likely it is an Easter egger if it lays blue eggs but can not readily be identified. Easter egger is the name people use for colored egg laying "mutts". There is an Easter egger thread on her as well as Americana threads that you may want to check out and see if yours looks like the others.

Welcome to BYC, this chicken thing is addicting...
