Crested Ducks                     Common Chicken Practices          Learn more about Avian Influenza

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

Thanks so much for all the "welcomes"!!!! I'm always nervous about the chemicals, but understand that there is a time for them. I never realized you can use Sevin on/around animals! Thanks for the advise!!!!!

Other critters:

1 kitty, 1 rabbit, 4 dogs, Countless fish

I KNOW!! I've always been a dog person and obsessed with learning about the different breeds, worked in a dog kennel for 2yrs and worked as a veterinary assistant for 6yrs (recently quit due to health problems), but I find myself frequently thinking about the chickens, how to improve the coop, other breeds I want, how many more can I care for, etc.! Now I find my thoughts drifting into other poultry and wondering how I can incorporate them into my property AND how can I justify them to my hubby!!!

Once you get into the idea of chickens you are pretty much hooked. My girls take up most of my attention and I'm always thinking of new and fun things to do with and for them. My friends say I treat them better then some parents treat their kids, since I dont have any human kids of my own I see no reason I shouldnt spoil the chicks. My Boyfriend has his hound dogs so he understands how I feel when I talk about them, he is the same way with his pups. He likes having fresh eggs from my girls and since I do all the "work" with the chickens he doesnt mind me having them.

Cool, someone close by! It looks like you have some awesome breeds! My daughter is dying for Silkies and we've been talking a lot about the BC Marans too. Please let me know, if you have or know of any for sale from reputable people.
