Hello from PDX, OR!

Good morning BYC!
Just signed up to the forum, I've been lurking for a while now.
Happy husband with two awesome kids (3yo & 7mo). Just bought a house in Portland, Or on 1/3 acre and currently in the process of turning it into an urban mini farm. Putting the finishing touches on the tractor I built (getting or first chickens thus weekend!). Also really looking for dime quail to raise for meat and eggs. Anyone here have any suggestions out possibly know anyone in Portland?

Many thanks, see you around.

I'm on the opposite end of the country, but PDX is near and dear to me (spent a couple years there post college). The book Keep Chickens by Barbara Kilarski was based on her experience raising chicks in her small yard in PDX, and she mentioned seeing quite a few fellow chicken-owners around her. I know I've seen other Oregonians and PDXers posting here as well. Have you checked out the state threads and the Buy/Sell/Trade?

I'm new to chicken-keeping, only got mine a week ago, but I've been reading here for months and have learned much more than from any book or other source. It's a gold mine.

What are you planning on getting this weekend?

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
