New chickens - Salt and Pepper!

So I have one Wyandotte (Pepper) and one White Leghorn (Salt) and we have a small coop in our backyard... They love the pin shaving bedding because the keep laying down and cleaning themselves in it... They are panting right now so I don't know if it's because of the heat cause it's summertime here in Illinois. I am raising these chickens by myself so help me out and tell me any good tips to have a great laying healthy chicken so I can have them for a great period of time...big_smile.png

chickens love watermelon, and it's a great cool down treat.

Since there are only two don't give them a whole melon :) a nice slice will do

Be sure they always have clean water

Give them lots of love.

All the best! and welcome to the site.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?
