ARGH! Saddle feathers on an EE? - Page 2

Oh, yeah, hers are all rounded, she's just so much more feathered out than my other pullet EE, who is OBVIOUSLY a pullet, that I was getting worried.

The shape is the difference. OPs hen has soft, rounded feathers. Roosters have long, drapey, pointed, hanging off the body and often shinier than the body feathers.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!

All chickens have 'saddle feathers', the rooster saddles will be stringy and pointy and ladies will have rounded feathers. Female EE's due to their coloration might LOOK like they have pointed feathers, but when looked at carefully you will see they are rounded.. OP's bird is a female, I have one just like it. :)
