Worst material chicken wire!!! We had a chicken tractor with a A Frame run covered in chicken wire, that way it protected from flying predators. Fenced in yard thought my girls were safe during the day in the coop/run but NO. A dog ripped open the run and killed 4 out of 5 girls. We sold that coop and built a permanant structure hardwire cloth some call it rat wire. More expensive but nothing getting thru that!! I don't have to worry about dogs, coons, hawks, etc except when I let them free range! Premade coop from Leonard, custom run built by my hubby and our contractor. I lock the girls in the coop everynight. I have thought about letting them sleep in the branches the kids put in the run but would worry all night! Nothing can stick its paw thru since the holes are very small but don't want to take any chances. Every open inch is covered in hardwire, I made my husband do everything he fussed a little but I kept sharing stories about a raccoon pulling wire away or reaching thru and he listened to me cause he knows how I love my chickens!
This is Nutmeg she is the only one who survived the dog attack.
3 of our new girls, they are about 14 weeks now, I have some babies who are 2 weeks old in the basement!
