They are eight weeks old as of Friday. Obviously hoping for all pullets, but sure would be fine if one were a sweet little cockeral! I do think the black is a pullet... :)

ARGH! Pictures aren't uploading...can you check my default album? Grrrrrrrrrr....must be the late night. LOL

Well, no actually. It's an earlier picture. In fact, I've lost the blue since then... :(

They are now 8 weeks. Oh! The loading worked this time...! Maybe it just doesn't work in the late hours of the night. lol

Any guesses now?

Pretty sure, despite being a newbie, that my gold laced (Buttercup) is a pullet. :) I can take/upload more pictures if it helps...P1010117.JPG

All of the ones in the first picture have pretty big combs so I would say roo but I dont see any other signs of them being males so for now I'll say Felmale but I'm not really sure. And Buttercup does look like a pullet. If you want to check them for signs of them being rooster look at their neck feathers they're pointed at the ends for males and rounded at the ends for females. (There called Hackle Feathers) And they might be getting there saddle feathers if there males so look at right under the tip of the wing near the the tail and look for pointed feathers growing but they look a little young.

At 8weeks, they have pretty big combs and waddles....I think they are all boys. Also, if you look, they all have those darker 'shoulder/shield" feathers. But I agree the GL is a girl.

Thanks...

Anyone else? At 8 weeks, are there any 'tells'? Hackle feathers seem pointed, but pattern makes it difficult to determine and we have an ISA with pointed hackle feathers and she lays faithfully every day! roll.png

give it a few more weeks. Honestly... they look like mine and mine are all pullets. Nothing in them SCREAMS roo at this stage at least to me. Few weeks you will be able to tell though.

Mom,

Can't help ya with the sex.  But I can assure you that you still operate well late at night.  The reason you couldn't get the pics to post is that they won't let you post pics or links (for some reason, probably to avoid spammers) until you have 10 posts on the site.

the pointed feathers wont grow in until they are about 4 months old. I think they are pullets, the lacing looks pretty even on thier backs.

this is what saddle feathers look like on a young roo, see how they are pointed and shiny, the neck feathers will come in like this also.

The third one is was our young rooster(Splash BLR). The hen is the first one laying on the ground-also splash. Those shoulder patches turned a deep mahoghany color and he didn't get hackles or saddles until WAY later.
