I used Sweet PDZ for the first time to reduce the ammonia odor, and it worked like a charm, 'cause I live in the city and don't want the neighbors to complain. See http://www.sweetpdz.com/our-products.html I got it at Tractor Supply, Medina Ohio. But you can get it online too. It is made for horse stalls, but they said it would be fine for chickens. I have seen other people on this site use it too, with a Poop Hammock (put that in the search line on BYC), and they scoop the poop just like cat litter!!!
