Hi Just Candled mine this morning (day16) and they are 2 mostly  all dark  too the air cell and one totally dark or so it seems or a really tiny  air cell.

Havent gotten any chicks from my last hatch or gone this far   so dont know what to expect with this dark egg.

I was low key after too much excitment and diappointment last time so this one went fast  as i just took it as it came but now the butterflys are starting as iMIGHT get a chick amnd lockdown is in 2 1/2 days now !!!

Hopefully 2  chicks  PLEASE! fl.gif anyway.I only have 3 eggs that look good.

2 other look like they quit on me. One had a  very tiny crack or dent but it looks like it isnt as  far along However it doesnt smell so left it..the other also doensty look that far along .One was clear. and took it out.

Both  the "maybes" i will leave in until lockdown tuesday...see what happens

Tension is building!!!

How about you? Anybody  else locking down Tuesday? BUTTERFLYS already

WE havent had rain in a month or more.Dont even remember when.  Havent mowed  in a  month...city got lots of rain last night (and power outages )we got none but now i  am afraid to get  the really needed rain  until   after hatch day Friday b/c of power outage. Might have to sit on the eggs myself if it gets bad out

Rain due today again later.

Better heat up my SnuggleSafe microwave dog heating pads  later if it starts so something can warm them  in that event.I have read  on BYC put a quilt over the bator so it doesnt loose as much heat if a power outage..

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Mine did what yours did last hatch,up down . This time someone had said she used the closet.

I didnt think i had a draft at all or whatever  to effect the temp but put mine in the closet  too this time and i am right on point not varing more than .5  the whole incucbation but twice went to about 1 degree diff. I think this closet thing helps a LOT.

I see the air cell and all the rest is dark.

I have Jersey's that are due on the 12th and they are really dark shelled. On one side it is really dark inside, but if I turn them it's not so dark on the other.  If I'm really still and it's real dark, I can see just alittle movement while I;m candling.  I can usually see this best on the edges where it's lighter on the inside.  I have some mixed bantam eggs that I can't see inside for anything.  I think the bigger they get the harder it is for me to see them.  Some of them, I see movement but the airsac is not very promonent.  Don't know what that means.?.

I can't wait to see what we all end up with.  I'm more nervous about the eggs in the other bators (LGs) than in this one (the Genesis).  The ones in the Genesis are going to be fine I'm worried about my 2 silkies in there.  We haven't had any luck hatching silkies.   I've ordered several off of ebay and got several infertile.  Out of a total of eleven of them I'm hoping 2 of them hatch on the 12th.  My son has his heart set on these 2 hatching.

I have heard ppl  that hatch  silkys but i think you are right hard to hatch out.I think Chickenlover hatched some out a while back .Might ask what she did I know she uses 30% humidity on her eggs and ithink she had some in a Genesis not sure if it was the silkys though.

I've wrapped towels around it and put wash clothes over the windows while leaving the holes open.  It seems to be holding although it will still vary 1 degree. I can handle that.  I candled last night after my son bumped into the bator and cracked an egg by knocking it out of the turner.  I had to put it in wax.  It was still swimming like crazy as of an hour ago:)  But if I keep the bator wrapped and the windows covered it seems ok.   I only have to keep the windows covered.  I always make sure holes are open for circulation.  I still say Havo-bator Genesis is the way for me.  That thing is spot on.

I don't like opening an egg after it looks like it should be culled.  I was checking my eggs with a float test and two were underdeveloped but were still alive.  Think that will be the last time I open an egg when I don't see anything or it fails a float test.  Down to 10 eggs and all of them have movement and look very developed through candling.  Hope they do well.fl.gif

I am a wife and a mother to 1 son, 2 daughters, 2 step sons, 3 step daughters.

I currently have Two Barred Rock Hens and 1 Dominique Roo

and 6 baby barred rock/dominique mix and 1 Black Sex Link Jersey Giant.

2nd hatch date  7/23  I have a lot late on this hatch.

3rd hatch date   7/24  I think a lot are going to be late with the rest due to still air incubator.

4th hatch date   7/26

I can't do it.  There have been several that I have wanted to float but haven't.  I just can't open them.  My heart broke when my son bumped the bator yesterday and cracked the egg shell.  I have a duck egg right now that has a black dot in it very close to the shell.  I have 3 of them and this is the only one like that.  It doesn't look like an eye.  But I've never incubated ducks so, I don't know.
