Absolutely agree!!! This is a borrowed bator, I was going to go buy one then I decided it is so much easier to just "go natural""  LOL

Hi everyone. I guess I'm on about day 10?? I candled a few today, saw some movement and thought that is good! Things seem to be going well, but I have had a few slight spikes. I have been using the lower watt bulb the entire time on this 2nd hatch (10 watt fish tank bulb). At the start, I was placing a cover over the incubator to increase the heat. The eggs seem to be starting to generate some of their own heat now. I believe it was around day 12 or 13 on my first hatch that I began having real trouble with spikes. Now in theory, I can just remove the cover  (a sweatshirt that I draped over the incubator) for the remainder of the incubation. I've been steady between 35%-40% humidity so far. I am just occasionally wetting a sponge in the incubator when it drops to 35%. I have one egg that has a small dent/crack...I am just leaving it alone for now, see what happens.

Here are the babies from the first hatch, and the broody hatch a little earlier. I took this today. I found out today that I have a frizzle in here, an australorp/bantam cochin mix  :)

I candled all 15 eggs, day 13. I saw movement in 13 of the 15, including the cracked egg. The other 2 were along the same pace of development so I believe those are fine. I'm starting to slowly increase my humidity, so by day 18 I will have it around 70%. I might not candle anymore. .
