My poor little self blue D'unncle hen..... She was sitting on a dozen little eggs for awhile now, with her friend a blue mottled. We got heavy rains last night from a tropical storm passing thru. As I was feeding up this morning I found her still in her box, which was now full of water up to her chin...... Still she sat, soaked through of water, chilled ...lwith her neck stretched up as high as it could , to keep from drowning. She was not going to abandon her eggs as her friend had..... I scooped her up, dried her off and stuck her under the heat lamps in a towl. I hope she'll be ok.... She was so tired. There are chicks in the next pen, so hopefully that may fulfill some of her mothering needs until she gets better and I can give her some eggs ....in a dryer box.
