Help with my roo's spurs?

I'm not sure if this would go under this section, but my rooster has GIGANTIC spurs. They're at least 4 inches (or longer) long! So I was wondering what the best method would be to remove these long spurs. I saw the baked potato method, and thought it was neat. But what do you guys think?

THIS IS FOR REAL AND I DO IT ALL THE TIME.... wrap Mr. Roo in a towel, get a small pair of pliers and gently grab the spur at the base with the pliers while holding the bird's leg steady. Start putting some pressure on the spur with the pliers and start turning the spur back and forth. yes bird will at first go" what are you doing-stop that" but it is from the wierd sensation. You will feel loosness when the spur breaks the seal/bond with the leg and then you can pull it off. The spur insides will bleed alittle, you can wrap it with some kleenex to stop the bleeding if you like.

There is a video on U-Tube on doing this, that is where I learned how...after the first time, it is SO EZE..... I hope that helps.....
