Chicken Fun under the Midnight Sun!

Silly me.  I thought that my biggest problem with the chickens was keeping them warm in the winter.

Actually, it's 9:45pm and the sun is still shining and the chickens think it's time to stay outside and play in the sunshine and catch bugs, and I can't go to bed till they do!  (They've been putting themselves in the coop around 11:00 at night.  Summertime Chicken Farmer Sleep Deprivation is my problem!!!

I think the Fall Equinox will be nice....

Chicken train, runnin' all day....

two horses, one lab/spaniel, one husky/blue heeler, one elderly lab/chow, one elderly heeler, one terrorist yellow cat, and 6 real live chickens!!!!

Mama to 2 hens and 1 rooster, 4 dogs~~~2 rescued greyhounds from the racetrack, a hound mix and a rat terrier, both strays.  Newest pet addition...4 hermit crabs...bought 4 more....total of 8 now.

Also "Mimi" to 5 grandkids, who keep me busy going to their school soccer, basketball, volleyball games, community and school plays and dance recitals.

Wow!  Yeah, I guess that would be a problem at your latitude.  If they have a favorite treat, just lure them back whenever you're ready and lock them in. wink.png

So the birds stay up until almost midnight, freaky! Are they more tired during the day? Do they drag their sorry behinds in at night, having partied waaaaaayyy too long during the long day?

Chickens at Midnight. So poetic.

They do take naps during the day, and while they're doing that I clean up the empties and the cocktail napkins they leave strewn around.

The good news is, they're only 8 weeks old still, so the rooster isn't crowing.  Next summer it will be interesting to see how much my neighbors love me, when the cock crows at dawn, which during June and July happens around 3:00-4:00AM!!!!!        D.gif       barnie.gif
