Finally they are here!!!

I first joined this site when a coon wiped out all the babies I hatched. At first I didnt want to start over. I was so afraid I wouldnt be able to make a safe place, and didnt want to get attached and face losing them also. But I sucked it up and here is the result! I have a very dear friend who gave me 12 eggs. Her flock is a mix of Araucanas, Buff Orpingtons, Turkens, White Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, with Roosters of each also. Well they interbreed, so you never know what is inside those eggs. But it sure makes for an exciting hatch! I had 4 Araucana eggs and all 4 hatched. Actually I hatched 11 of 12 eggs. Pretty darn good odds I say. Needless to say, I am once again a chicken Momma and absolutely in love! They all run to the side of the tank when I walk in the room. And at 3 days old will jump into my hands to be held. I know it will be many weeks before I know the sex, but right now I am just enjoying each one and their already developing personalities!2012-06-26 10.09.12.jpg

Those are some CUTE little ones!!   love.gif   Congrats on the great hatch!

So sorry you lost your first chicks.  Glad you have such darling chicks to keep you company!
 

Whoever said don't count your chickens before they're hatched clearly never tried to count chickens after they're hatched.
