Personality: Intelligent, adventurous and curious. Doc is a “hands on” marine biologist, explorer and inventor. His current research interests include various ways to make freshwater including using semi-permeable membranes and the deep-oceans own pressure to create seawater, developing GMO algae that can be crushed to harvest fresh water and old school solar distilling techniques. While all three work, their output is still limited. Doc also is an ocean explorer and inventor of SCUBA rebreathers. He keeps a catalog of all the newly discovered life forms (and would like the help of an assistant).
Doc reluctantly accepts the fact that warfare is still sometimes necessary among humans; he is reluctantly capable of inventing weapons. However, he views warfare among the few remaining human ships as a primitive, barbaric and a stupid waste of resources and more importantly, lives.
Doc is a reluctant member of the inner circle as his perspective and wisdom are often very helpful. However, he is much more comfortable underwater or working on one of his many projects. Doc doesn’t suffer fools well and can be blunt.
Doc is an excellent diver and is very comfortable interacting with marine life.
Appearance: 32, 5 ft 9 in tall, hazel eyes, short sandy blond hair that is often uncombed, thin but physically active/athletic. Sometimes when he gets busy, Doc forgets to shave. . . and eat. Occasionally he wears his shirt inside out. His dive gear, however, is always in tip top shape.

Until we start, I’ll be lowering containers with permeable membranes on them to different depths for different amounts of time with the goal of trying to optimize freshwater production. . .
