Thank you both! She laid another one today just as big, poor girl, and one of my other EE's laid her first egg today! I'll post a pic of her and her egg soon sometime tomorrow. It's like Christmas here right now!

Here she is at 22 + 3 days old.  She just laid her 2nd egg.  At first I thought it was another chickens because I was expecting blue or green.  (I have never seen a blue or green egg in real life and I so hoped to get one!  But she lays a pale pink egg.  I am sooooo excited about the eggs, but a little dissappointed that they aren't blue or green!  I only have one other EE who hasn't laid yet....Maybe she will give me a blue/green egg!

Ester's egg is on the left. My barred rock's 2nd egg is on the right.  Both are still small.  But loving it!!!!

A very pretty girl!  I really wanted blue eggs too, so I got 2 EE chicks, but one turned boy on me. Then I figured with my luck, my remaining girl will lay brown eggs, so I went and bought 2 Ameraucana pullets from a local BYC breeder. Not too long after that, my EE laid a pretty bluey-green egg! When the Ams start laying, we'll have lots of blue, and the brown eggs will seem quite exotic by comparison, but the rarest and most coveted will be the only white egg from our Leghorn!

Fingers crossed for blue for you!  fl.gif

hahah......I got a brown leghorn too...by mistake.  The breeder was suppose to give me a Speckled Sussex.  We had named her Freckles before we realized it was a leghorn.  My DH said we should keep her because everyone should have at least one white egg laying chicken.  So we kept her, but we changed her name to Plain Jane.  She is only 17 weeks old, but starting to get her red face.  Still a few weeks away for her.  If I don't get blue or green eggs this season, I plan on getting some new chicks in Feb. Will choose to try to get green and blue eggs!

My hubby said the same about our changeling Leghorn, who was supposed to be a Delaware! She is a White Leghorn, though, and we got her first white egg just couple of hours ago. It's pretty big!  Do the Brown Leghorns lay white? Always thought they were brown layers. hu.gif  Wanting more blue/green eggs is always an excellent excuse to get more EEs!  Although you don't really need any excuse to get more EEs!  love.gif

Yes. Brown leghorns will lay plain white eggs. That is why we named her Plain Jane.

My last of my 3 EEs is laying

Who: Stella

2weeks

6weeks

about 12weeks

about 22 weeks

Where: Mypetchicken

When: She was hatched on Feb 27 So she is almost 25weeks(though I dont know her actual lay date)

what: Light creamy pink(the large one in the center)

I have no idea when she started to lay because I was looking for a blue or green but 2 days ago when I got 12 eggs in one day and I have 12 chickens I knew everyone was now laying. Im thinking hers might be the light pink as it is the only one that stands out from the other browns but I wont know til I catch her in the act

Yea, my EE started laying 9 days ago.  She has laid a small pale pink egg every single day since that first one!  But, boy did I want those green/blue eggs!  I have one more EE who is now 23 1/2 weeks old and hasn't laid yet.  Hopefully she will give me a blue egg!
