experiment with bedding

I am in Las Vegas and I cannot find anyone who carries this product. This is exactly what I have been looking for. Is their any alternatives that may be local? I am having huge issues with dust.

Ok I know this is a really really old thread. Just wondering if anyone is still using this with success? Thinking of trying it as I am asthmatic and would like to try to keep dust to a minimum. Maybe @coolcanoechic can chime in????

I have followed this post for quite a while and have not checked for a long time but when I looked for it online from a local store their website indiacated it was restricted to the north eastern seaboard if memory serves correct. I know it was a far way from Indiana.

I have been using koop clean from Lucerne Farms for a while now and I love it ! (I have been using PDZ in the roosting boxes for a long time and I am so very happy with it) I was able to find a bag of Hi Fiber Gold (it doesn't have PDZ) to try it on my coop floor (10x12) with the idea that because it doesn't have PDZ it would be less dusty. It is not as dusty as koop clean so I liked it.

Last Friday I changed the bedding and used a bag of Lucerne Farms, unfortunately I made the mistake of getting the one with molasses and didn't realize it until it was already on. My first reaction was to replace it right away but I decided to keep it and see what happen. My concern is that the molasses will attract ants and that is definitely a no no, also I do not know if the hay would grow mold because of the molasses. That bag is meant for horses feed and it would be eaten right away, I am keeping it on the coop floor for a while so this is where my concern about the mold is.

What I noticed since Friday is that the chickens scratched a little but not as long as they used to with koop clean. I love the fact that this product is not dusty at all and I think it is due to the soy oil it has. I got the bag at TSC which they just recently started to carry I am heading there this afternoon to see if they have the same hay without the molasses. I believe the Hi Fiber Gold does not have soy oil and maybe that is the reason why it is still a bit dusty but much better than koop clean. Koop clean is still great but I am trying to get better with the dust.

I am changing the bedding again soon because of my concern about the molasses so if anybody has had any experience with this I would really appreciate their input.
