Another Hen in the House - Southwest Virginia here :)>

Hello everyone!

I just joined today. I'm the expectant "mom" to chicks (all pullets) that will be arriving via mail the week of July 9th. I can't wait!

Although we live in town now, we're moving at the end of July to a large farm that already has a nice, large chicken coop just behind the house. I've wanted chickens for years now, so needless to say - I'm as excited as a hen with a box full of mealworms!

We're expecting 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes, 2 Australorps, 2 Partridge Plymouth Rocks, 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 Easter Eggers, 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks and 2 White Plymouth Rocks. I hadn't planned on getting so many (15) to start with, but shipping was "cheeper" that way and we'll have plenty of room for them at our new house.

I'm getting our brooders ready for them  yippiechickie.gif

Looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning lots of good chicken info from you!

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
