eggs breaking

I put pine bedding in the nesting box.  My chicken didn't mind it and kept it really clean, but now she is kicking it out of the nesting box.  Her eggs are cracking on the hard wood of the box.  What can I put in there to cushion the box?

Solid rubber pad, carpet things in that order.

I don't get better with age, only more confused(ing).

we had the same problem so we used rubber floor mats ... you know, the kind that kids sit on at daycare.  Now we have no more cracked eggs and they can't kick it out and don't peck it either.

Thanks for your suggestions!  We were afraid to put in the wrong stuff just incase they pecked at it.  Thanks again!
