Your birds are gorgeous and I can't wait to get my hands on more of your babies this fall!  If I could figure out how to get my pics in one of these threads I could show you how awesome our little Lovey and Fabio have turned out.  Gorgeous and sweet!  Who could ask for more???

When I see the problem starting.  Unfortunately, I had to wait on an order to get then and am behind the game this year.  I also use them when I am putting a younger group in with an older one.  I this case I just put the peepers on the older group initially.

I find it a good idea to add a bucket of water and sometime a bowl of food to their usual feeder and waterer until they figure things out.  There is occasionally a not bright individual who is slow to figure out where the food and water are.

Here are my Lavender Ameraucanas, bought from CrystalCreek, they are gorgeous.  I need  help with picking out which cockerel to keep, below are the 2 I think are the best please give me your opinions!!

 There is also one more but for some reason I accidental erased his pics, and don't feel like taking more right now it's getting dark. Have 3 others and they don't look as good but they  all hatched Feb 14, 2012. maybe I should wait till I decide to sell and or cull??

Im so happy I found this thread! Although everyone is so far from me. I love the color of these birds with the combination of blue eggs. I thought about breeding, but it seems to complicated for a beginner like me. Im also in no position to breed , but when i add chickens to my flock I plan on adding lavender ameraucanas. So I'm rooting for everyone who's taking on this task to keep these birds better and stronger.

I keep a small flock of and would love to find get more lav. even if they are just pet quality, so let me know if there are some you cant keep and cant seem to find in your heart to cull :) 

I keep them for eggs and as pets when they get older.  

I have only one lav. but I still cant tell if its a hen or roo at this point. 

maybe you guys can help me since you seem to be more experienced >.<

either this one is a rooster or the white one in the back cause there have been 2 chickens crowing.. unless i have a crowing hen :/

One thing I keep hearing is people collecting lavs from many sources and interbreeding them.  I think this is the wrong move.  Use your best lav and breed to Black again and then back again and again. 

 

Anyone who has lavs from me should know they came from Harry and Jean.

Hey this is Brian. I have been hearing allot about things being unfriendly. I will definitely take your advice about using the other site for its knowledge. after all there is allot of good info on there and it is how i found you. And so far everyone ive talked to on it is really friendly.  You have been beyond friendly and helpful to me, so since I'm just starting out on this adventure i hope it stays on such a positive pace with everyone else i encounter talking about the lavs.

How's everybody doing? 

I am almost ready to start setting eggs again. One of my repeat-offender broodies is at it again though. That has been my biggest obstacle. I could hatch all day long, but the hens just don't want to give up setting. 

Is it just my birds, or is anybody else having this happen?  Seriously- they are worse than my cochins and orps put together.  

I have the same problem in all of mine this time of year.I let the worst offenders set and raise some chicks in hopes of getting it out of their system.
