I am looking at starting an Organic Feed Co-op for chicken and pig feed and in the future goat feed. If you are interested please let me know what types of feed (chicken (layer, grower, starter) or pig grower) you would be interested in and how much you would use in a month (or just how much you would want to start with, how often I order will depend on how many we can get in the co-op). I am trying to get all the figures together from the feed mill, so the price will depend on how much feed will be purchased, but the minimum will be 500lbs. from the mill. Any questions or more info. you can post here or just e-mail me @ [email protected]

this sounds great i usually feed about 3 to 400 pounds of layer a month and in the winter time i would use hog feed i raise about 2 a year

I am interested in more information. I am currently ordering in bulk from an organic mill, but I would like to see a list of products and pricing. Where would the Co-op be based? Availability of pick-up would be a concern. We are in Brusly, LA (near Baton Rouge). We currently order at least 500 lbs of feed per month. On occasion we have additional people order with us and have ordered a max of 900 lbs.

I am sorry about my lack of response, I didn't think anyone was interested. Any how, I will send you the price sheet so you may look, but the price was just unreasonable for the amounts I was looking into. e-mail me if interested, it may take a while I don't check my e-mail often.

I could use 50 lb/month of organic layer feed (or scratch). I hear it is cheaper to mix your own, but haven't found organic grains yet.

Hello. I am awaiting the arrival of my three girls, midweek, around the 19th or 20th, at Marston Feed Store. Being inside the city limits, they are all I can have, but it's good enough for me. I haven't raised chickens since my children had 4-H chicks to raise, a very long time ago. My grandmother had them in her back yard, outside Houston, so I did experience the fun and regimen of caring for them as a child/teen. I'm very excited and anticipate the coop being assembled within the next 24 hours. I would definitely be interested in co-op benefits, purchasing organic feed, scratch, and oyster shell, etc. As well, it would be nice to know how other people are doing with their flocks. Knowing and doing are two separate deals, so I hope I have not taken on something I can't maintain properly. Please let me know if you were able to get the co-op going. I will participate monthly. I'll have to see how much the girls eat, and the amount I can anticipate purchasing. My neighbor is on the fence about getting his three. Maybe after I'm rolling along, he will commit, and the feed need can be doubled. Hope to hear good news about the co-op. Found your thread when I googled for organic feed suppliers in Baton Rouge. I have read that we shouldn't visit each other's flocks due to cross contamination. We never worried about such things when we were kids, and it never crossed our minds, when our children had theirs. Is that really a problem? I'll keep forensic sox on hand if necessary. It's a small flock of three chickens, but I don't want to see them get sick or anything. Anybody out there? I welcome your comments...

Hi! No one ever established a co-op. I order my organic feed and grains once per month from Azure Standard. They carry over 9,000 organic and natural products (most for people, but they do carry some animal products). There is a drop location in Baton Rouge where we pick up our orders once per month. It really has been wonderful. They do not charge tax, and the shipping cost is only around 8.5% of your order total. Feel free to PM me if you want more information. The website is www.azurestandard.com

I am very interested in knowing how to get organic non-GMO feed. We are about 1 HOUR from Baton Rouge area and would willingly drive to get feed. We have chickens, ducks\, cows and horses
