Hi from E. TN

Thread Starter

I hope I am posting this correctly.  I am new & live in E. TN.  I have:

1 dear sweet husband

1 son

1 mutt dog

1 Am. Bulldog

1 (not so mini) Mini Schnauzer

1 old cat

1 young cat

6 EE hens

1 EE roo

2 possible Black Copper Maran mix hens

1 RIW hen

5 blue Orpingtons (1 roo, 1 pullet & 3 too young to tell)

11 EE chicks

I will be thinning down my chickens once the chicks get old enough to sex.

We live in a rural area surrounded by the Great Smoky Mountains.  We have always lived here.

We usually put out a small garden.  I do some canning, freezing & drying of fruits & veggies.  I enjoy picking wild berries.

I do hand piecing & quilting, painting, crafts, etc.

wife to dh, one son, 2 cats, 1 American Bulldog, 1 Mini Schnauzer, I mutt, mixed flock, 10 LF Buff Orps & 15-20 LF bbs Orps (will be thinned down).  I do not hustle or sell & rarely buy.  I am just trying to get a couple of nice flocks of Orps & maybe show one day.  My progress is slow, my funds are limited and quality will always come before quantity.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Sounds like you have a lovely farm

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I wish we had a farm but its not just a few acres in a nice quite setting.
