Hello to you also from the foothills of the smoky mts in east tn.  I hope your chicks came through the day ok.  We lost 6 of our 9 today to the heat.  My kids and i are devastated.

I am sorry you lost chicks.  Mine were okay when I checked on them around 8 tonight.  I have been freezing bottles of water & dropping the frozen ice into there water containers.  I am also adding the save a chick mix to the water & changing it at least once a day.  My pens are located in a wooded area so they do not get a great deal of direct sun beating down on them.

wife to dh, one son, 2 cats, 1 American Bulldog, 1 Mini Schnauzer, I mutt, mixed flock, 10 LF Buff Orps & 15-20 LF bbs Orps (will be thinned down).  I do not hustle or sell & rarely buy.  I am just trying to get a couple of nice flocks of Orps & maybe show one day.  My progress is slow, my funds are limited and quality will always come before quantity.

I got it at Tractor Supply.  It comes as 3 small packets attached.  I think it was $1.99.  I think I read you also need to give them untreated water at the same time.
