Well I bought some hatching eggs and only one is going to hatch. So I didnt want to go thru all of this extra work (expanding the coop and such for one chicken). So I went and got a baby silke 3 days old for my broody silkie to adopt along with her one egg thats about to hatch. She totally rejected the baby, I feel so bad! So now I have the thing in here with me, (I currently have the cats locked out of the house).
Im so surprised she didnt want it. Maybe I should have waited until the other one hatched?? Tonight Im going to try a little trick. Going to wait until the sun goes down, then I will break an unhatchable egg open and empty the contents, then take the broken shell outside with the new baby chick and remove the other egg that isnt going to hatch, hopefully tricking her into thinking this is hers (?) What do you guys think? Im really surprised my silkie didnt want the baby......
