Metzer Farms has a lovely description of exactly what is happening during the (seemingly) endless hatching process on their Live Cam Page:  http://www.metzerfarms.com/LiveHatchingVideo.cfm?CustID=1019878#Calendar  (This link leads to the calender, just scroll up to see what I'm talking about.  )

Good luck to all!

Anconas may be my next Poultry Adventure... if I can find any!

I couldn't find any either so I ordered eggs from Toadbriar. I highly recommend her. She packed the eggs very well, shipped quickly, and has been extremely helpful when I had questions. There are at least three of us who have hatched her eggs in the last month and the babies are gorgeous.

Thank you! I actually had come across this when I was researching incubation. I was trying to explain it to DH last night and I couldn't remember where I had read this. thumbsup.gif

Duckling #3!

That's duck #2 on the left. Any guesses as to what his color will be? Duck #3 is pretty dark. I can't tell if he's chocolate or black.

Three more have hatched and the final three should hatch today.

So pretty!

And here's the early birds all dried off. From left to right: Hyacinth, Valentino, and Morning Glory. We vent sexed them and H and MG are girls, V is a boy. Hyacinth's tail is definitely blue, then she has a larger patch on her back that is grey. Valentino is black with a white bib and Morning Glory has chocolate patterning.

I thought baby chicks were cute, and they are, but they have nothing on ducklings! love.gif
