how to find safe chickens

Thread Starter

I am new, very new to chickens.  how do you add more to your (presumably healthy) flock safely?...I cant buy 25 day old chicks form a hatchery when I only want 2-4.

I tried to get a couple of chicks from the place I got my first ones from and they have had an outbreak of something resperatory.

Mom to Leonberger dogs, Dorkings, Barnevelders, and some random layers of other breeds (marans, wesummers, etc)

there is a auction that i sometimes go to not far from here that sales all kinds of birds, there might be one in your area,

i am in the process of building a small pen just to put new birds in to keep them separate from my existing flock, that way i can make sure they are healthy and seem to be desease free for atleast 30 days. there is nothing that is fail safe but that is the best way i have come up with so far, i hope this helps

brand new paw paw, my first grandbaby was born dec. 6 and he is some kinda perfect in paws eyes
