I have found that my chickens won't eat any kind of beetle.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. If the beetles aren't any good the chickens probably won't eat them. I have yet to see or hear of a chicken poisoning itself by eating something it shouldn't (something "naturally occuring" that is, stories about styrofoam and paint obviously don't count). Scavenging, omnivorous animals like chickens are very good at figuring out what is edible and what is not. I trust my OWN implicitly...

It's been my experience that the more heavily armored beetles are not attractive to chickens. Probably like swallowing a rock I suppose. But there are many others they will scarf right up. So long as they haven't been sprayed with anything let them decide.

I've only had experience with a couple of types of beetles.... the big black ones and the littler stink bug types. My chickens love them both.... it's a real free for all when I throw one in. The boss lady generally gets them though... she's quite the boss out there in the run and coop.
