*~(Currently Nameless!) The Silkie Hen~* (Photos included!) Need more name suggestions!

The true documentary of (currently nameless) the Silkie!
Day One:

I got my little hen from a man I met at a chicken auction and he was interested in some of my Ameraucana hatching eggs. My pap said he could have them for free because we haven't ever hatched ours before, but they are fertile. He wouldn't do that, and he said he could possibly trade me a silkie Hebler for them. Ive always wanted a silkie, so I was happy with that.

He said he'd have to check with his daughter first though, but she came from a breeder that said she was show quality, but his flock wouldn't accept her. They tried to kill her every time she was tried to be introduced, but accepted another black silkie and another white one. She wouldn't fight back either. Just put her head in her wing.

He called yesterday and said he could come down with the silkie after work, because his daughter said yes! (You can't imagine how happy I was) They came at five o'clock and we swapped (and talked for an hour about chickens) I asked what her name was and the daughter said she had no name yet. (I still haven't named her, any help?) We walked back to see my chickens, but the silkie wouldn't move in the cage, and since she lived in a basement all her life with a brood of chicks, we stuck her in the Polish brooder cage and she was fine.


Once he left, I put her down on the floor in the garage. She was so sweet! She let you pet her and pick her up and everything. She had all five toes, black skin, silk feathers a top hat, and some growing to do. She is three months old. One thing I wasn't sure about was her comb. It is a tiny single Comb, but the man assured me it was normal. I looked it up. Silkies are supposed to have walnut combs. Oh well. Shes very sweet and likeable

Day One Continued:
After we saw her inside, I thought I'd bring her out in the yard for a little bit. She just walked around. She didn't peck or scratch or anything... this was also her first time eating anything other than peep starter. Outside, when it came time to catch her, she ran around away from you, but as soon as you lift her up, Shes calm. Then she went back in with her new buddies, who made it a sport of picking her wattles. She bit a couple on the back for messing with her. Good. Self defense

Haha I did the same thing with my Ameraucana. I call her Nona, short for Noname

My favorite names so far are Mouse, Miss Priscilla Fancyfeather (A CL98 original ) and Queenie I could put up a poll after I get a few more suggestions that I like and have people vote?
