hydrocortisone cream on chicken's back?

My rooster (a handsome young man) is overmating with my chickens. He is on vacation-perhaps permanently- at a neighbors. Several of his favorites have lost all feathers on their backs. One looks particularly red--like sunburn-but has no open sores. Can I use hydrocortisone cream topically to decrease irritation? It is not infected, just very red.

I would not use it myself.

If just red, I'd let it alone. Make sure they have shade to go under and that's all I'd do if it were me. If I thought I saw some nicks I'd put some antibiotic ointment on it (no painkiller ointment).
