Stripes is one of my very first chickens, which I got in 2007 or 2008. My sister was taking Pullets for her 4-H project, and when we got the chicks, I got to pick one of my own. The chick that I picked I later named Stripes, of course. She is an Americauna hen. I laughed every time I looked at her because she had such a big beard. Most of her feathers are brown and white, and she's a very good looking chicken. We made her very tame, too. On the 4th of July, I give Stripes a special treat because... well, it involves stars and stripes, doesn't it? (Ha ha, I didn't name her after that though)

Today, Stripes is still alive, and she's living the rest of her elderly life. But she is still her tame, beautiful, adventurous self.

no favorite yet so to speak, they are only 2 1/2 weeks, but the one to feather out last who seems to be the 'runt' gets my attention : )

My favorite is Chichi, an Easter Egger.  I got her from Cackle hatchery in March. I like her because she is always friendly.  She will hop in my lap and just sit with me for a while.  Sometimes, she flies on top of my chair and preens my 'feathers' (hair).  Never thought I could get attached to a chicken, but it's safe to say she's special to me. :)  This is her.
