EEs? Ameraucanas? Any guesses?

Here are 3 of my new chicks! I know that the black one is a Barred Rock! The other 2 though? Not sure... I know either EE or Ameraucana though! The light one has light/pinky tan colored legs and the darker one has sorta dark blueish brown legs. What are you thinking they'll look like when they grow up? Thanks!

 

About a week old- I'll post some more know that their a little older!

Where did you purchase them from?

A breeder nearby. He said they were Americanas... which is spelled the wrong way but.... I just really want to know what they will grow up to be like!

They are not Ameraucanas, I can tell you that. With poufy cheeks, they are probably Easter Eggers, if he called them Ameraucanas.

Sorry but EE isn't really a breed more like a group of various crosses. They vary widely in looks which is one of the perks of them. It's quite fun seeing what they end up growing into. They have so many genetics in their lines it's amazing how many combinations can come about.

I've purchased "Ameraucanas"  from breeders that were EEs & EE's from the feed store that came in as Ameraucanas... THey ARe the SAme THinG!!!!

*The breed that is not the same as these is the Araucana; a mix of two breeds, supposedly rare, from South America & Spain I believe... (Could be wrong)

 

I have one Araucana who is "rumpless" & has the ear muff looking things: She is from a breeder.

(I don't know all the technical terms.)

 

I have 5 Ameraucanas from a hatchery, sold @ feed store as "EEs"... They are all completely different colors... I will look to see if i have pics.

Nor Cal Mama of 3 incredible kids & wife of an incredible tattoo artist: We are cusodians of 2 honey bee hives, a bluenose pit, a chow/shepard mix, and 39 feathered friends... I homestead on the hill... nothing I'd rather do. (Besides play soccer!)

They are not the same thing.  Easter Eggers are crossbreed chickens with Ameraucana in their background.  The mixed background is what causes them to lay a variety of egg colors, pinkish, brown, greenish, even a gray comes along.  Ameraucana's are a recognized breed with standards and defined colors, etc.  They lay a smaller blue egg.  I have both.  Trust me, not the same thing.  Many feed stores are unknowlageable and mark them as "Ameraucanas", when in reality they are Easter Eggers.  Often hatcheries are selling them as Americanas, which is a sure sign that you will get an Easter Egger, and where the confusion at the feed stores start.  If you go to the Ameraucana Breeders Club, their FAQ is very informative.  Hope this helps clear up the confusion!
