Is "Hot Pick" safe to use on cage birds? (we have a lovebird and a parakeet who keep wrecking their perches)

What is Hot Pick?

Chewing wood is part of parrot life! Parrots are designed to chew wood and it is something that many individual birds enjoy. You can provide them with a rotation of different wooden toys-- but some just prefer to chew their perches even when they have other options. I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but you may need to resign to replacing them as they chew through them. It is inexpensive to make your own from safe woods that are clean of any pesticides or herbicides, as well. If you don't have the wood for it you can ask around or shop online or at a bird fair (remember to sanitize anything you buy at a bird fair).

Yeah, wrecking their perches and toys is what birds do best... along with chewing trim in your house, chewing on walls, and shredding cardboard. Figure everything in the cage is a chew toy.

I'm no expert, there is always something to learn, and my birds are livestock, so... yes, I may be quite blunt. wink.png

Get them some toys the can shred. They probally will still chew their perches up, but not as bad if they have other things to destroy.
