Dont laugh it sounds good.You need a patent so the idea isnt stolen.
First i would look up stink ball for preditors on google.if you dont see anything like that then today send a letter to yourself with the plan in it and dated and mail it to you so it has the USPS stamped date on it. Then dont open it when it comes .At least you could prove you had the idea first.
Online there is some websites that offer to get your patent for you .All you need even look up if there is something like it. They do it ALL. but trouble is cost about $5000 total to get your beginning patent but maybe you can find it cheaper than i did or thru a town lawyer not intenet.
Site i went to for my idea was a well known site but cant think of the name lawyer.com? I dont know. (Mine was already thought of.)

Anyway in my state it is lagal to shoot a dog if they are bothering livestock .i would never shoot an animal myself but have felt like it when the neighborhood beagles come sniffing around my 9 acres and all my 180 lb dogs go crazy for 4 hours as they are fenced .
