Greetings from beautiful & sweltering Aiken, SC!

I'm a first-time mother hen: in March my husband and I purchased six two-day-old pullets. The girls should be weeks away from laying their first eggs! They are healthy, happy, and utterly spoiled. Sadly, our lead bird got out of the enclosure last week (we've since clipped all the girls' flight feathers) and was attacked by our dog. The vet stitched up her wounds, but Olive did not make it. We miss her -- she always greeted us and was a cuddler. Is there a fellow member near Aiken,SC, who would be interested in adding to our flock? We'd like to purchase a four-month-old silver campine hen. Just one!

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
