Drooping Wing

My geese are just getting their blood feathers and I am getting the typical low wings, but one of the goslings has the lowest wing I have ever had on my geese.  I am concerned.  They get 16% feed with oats and niacin in the morning and are on grass the rest of the day.  They free range 11-12 hours a day so they are getting evercise.  Do you think I need to tape this one up, or give it more time?  She is only dropping her wing on the right side and when I checked her over today she seems to be developing normally, but is smaller and thinner than the other geese.

When the blood recedes she will hitch,it back up with no problem. We have a Sebbie boy who looks about the same right now but with both wings. You shouldn't need to wrap them as you want them to exercise the wing, and flapping builds muscle and helps pull them back up.

Thanks Celtic Oaks.  You really eased my mind.  I've never had one this low.  I guess I need to get out there and chase the geese today to get them flapping their wings.  wee.gifMy neighbors know I am crazy goose lady already, so they won't be shocked.

I have this problem in my Muscovy ducks. Ducks and geese have a fast growth rate. When their wing feathers start to come in, they become droopy because they are so heavy to bear. It will get better, just give it time smile.png

We have a flock of chickens (mostly Seramas), Call and Mallard ducks, a rescued Chinese goose, a Royal Palm turkey, button quail, Coturnix quail and 6 parrots.
