lets put some eggs in the bator - Page 5

The 5 of the 11 remaining bobwhite eggs I set hatched this morning!  I had discarded one egg midway through incubation because it had lost more than 1/3 its weight.  I will check back on the rest later this afternoon.

Post-Incubation Report

After 1 week, My final tally was eight out of the dozen hatched, with one infertile.  I proceeded to have one chick fall asleep in the shallow water and die on day 1 despite the rocks, so I am now down to a magnificent seven staying cozy under the ecoglow.

My batches to date using a Brinsea Mini Advance have been:

#1 -  58.3% (7 of 12) - 3 infertile, 2 bloodrings

#2 -  83.3% (10 of 12) - 1 infertile, 1 unhatched

#3 -  66.7% (8 of 12) - 1 infertile, 1 bloodring, 2 unhatched

Total 69.4% (25/36)

2 Casualties - the aforementioned chick and one bird keeled over after being put outside.

batch #4 is in the incubator... time to expand the coop!
