Hi,

we found a pigeon in our yard yesterday -  leg band reads:  19 IF  CVI  2012  - white with a few black specks.

please let me know if this is yours, as we don't want to keep it and would like to find its owner.  it seems to be off balance and may have a hurt wing.

thanks

Contact the club secretary and he should get you in contact with the owner of the bird.

we are in Preston County - close to Morgantown.   i have contacted the Connellsvile PA club, but nobody has claimed the pigeon.

we tried to free it yesterday, and it flew off, but came back later in the day and i released it again this morning - still did not go anywhere.  i guess it likes the new condo and maid service roll.png

problem is that we have outdoor cats and a dog and one almost got it - so am wanting to find its old owner or a new owner soon.

thanks.

not sure where Fort Ashby is - but would gladly meet you halfway if it is your bird  or if you want it, as i am afraid that it doesn't know how to take care of itself outside . it was trying to blend in with our chickens, but they wouldn't have it .

HI again,

i am so disappointed that nobody has stepped forward to claim this beautiful pigeon.  why put a leg band on a bird if you don't intend to claim it if found?   i have contacted everyone that i found information for, but nobody has stepped up to say it is theirs.

we thought that when we let it loose and it flew off that it would go home - it hasn't.   the problem is that the bird has no fear of predators - white pigeon sitting on the garage roof with hawks flying over, shuffling a long on the ground with cats/dog around.  i have personally saved it several times from getting killed.  we cannot get it caged again, as it won't let us get close enough -  now that it is well.  we don't mind it staying , but it is just a matter of time before something gets it and can't be outside all the time to watch over it.

Blueskylen, I am surprised that the owner has not claimed back his/her racing pigeon yet.  If you want this bird to go back to it's original home, you might try placing it in a box/basket and releasing it a mile or two away from your place if it is not sick or injured.  Sometimes Homing pigeons can find familiar landmarks that way and find their way back home easier.  You could also contact the local Racing pigeon club and ask if any of the club members would give this guy/gal a good home and place to live.
