Duck with a limp

I have a duck that has developed a limp.  I have checked her and don't see any injuries to her foot or her leg.  A different thread said something about a niacin deficiency, and I was wondering if that could cause a duck to limp when there is no apparent injury?

Gimpy and I would appreciate any help roll.png

What age is your duck?

1 husband, 1 son, 1 daughter, 1 cat, 3 dogs, 6 ducks, 7 turkeys, too many chickens of all ages and stages, and bunches of fish... Do you wonder why I'm nutts?

Yes, there does seem to be a connection between low niacin (and I think that may be different for each duck) and leg problems.

How old is the duck?  What does she eat?  I would go ahead and start her on increased niacin, using either brewer's yeast sprinkled on food or 100 to 150 mg niacin dissolved per gallon of water.

Also, time in lukewarm bath deep enough to swim in is often quite helpful.

She is 2 1/2 months old.  She eats chick grower, scratch, and whatever she can get away from the chickens when I take yogurt, fruit, veggies or other treats out for them.

She may need an extra bit of niacin.  Some do, some don't.

Brewer's yeast, sprinkled on top of food, or dissolved niacin capsules 100 to 150 mg per gallon of water for five weeks at first should help if that is what the problem is.

Use the straight niacin, not time release or anything fancy.
