Oh, I'm not above any of that. You did say wearing JUST beads and bangles, right?
Did we post about one of the hens that laid an egg on TOP of the coop? Part of our coop is open air- covered with shade cloth. The naughty girls have figured out a way to hop up there from the run, and have made a corner of it a little saggy. That's the spot we found an egg -- suspended in the shade cloth above the play-pen part of the coop. It was a White Leghorn egg. Probably caught herself off guard with a first egg while she was enjoying the view and plotting how to get to the almost-ripe prunes. They do seem to prefer to lay in the nesting boxes, if they're empty, though we find some of the first eggs in random spots. We can tell they're first eggs by the size. We are starting to get a line-up outside our nesting boxes now ... I posted on my facebook page that it is like the line outside the ladies room at a figure skating show. There was so much noise in the quiet part of the coop the other day ... a bossy Brown Leghorn who wanted one particular nesting box but someone else was taking her time using it. We'd better build more nesting boxes. It seems this coop will never be finished. But ... Yay! ... Eggs!
