Ducks stopped laying

Thread Starter

Strange, was getting 4-6 eggs from 6 laying ducks each day.  Few days ago they just pretty much stopped except for one duck.  Today I found an egg shaped glob of just yolk on the ground, no eggs anywhere.  Weather has been gorgeous, they are acting pretty normal.  Do I need to worry?  I never had them ALL stop at once.  Nothing has changed around here.

something eating the eggs?

Mine stopped for the tropical storms and the other bad wind storms.

How's the heat in your area?

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

Our chickens pretty much stopped laying too, think its the heat. We haven't had rain in idk how long!

Could one of them possibly have broken and egg inside her? Thats the only thing I can think of when you said there was just a glob of yolk on the ground.

Don't think anything is getting the eggs.  It is like they all decided at once to just stop.  Very odd.

And the yolk I found this am was not normal looking.  If you crack an egg the yolk is runny.  This almost looked like a partially cooked yolk.  It was rounded up and in an egg shape.  It was soft, but not liquid like a regular yolk.

Just having lost one to egg yolk peritonitis not too long ago, I am a little freaked out today.  Between this, my 87 year old father with COPD maybe having pneumonia, and nursing a guinea pig through a mouth/tooth issue, I am close to melting down.

the eggs get kinda rubbery if inside too long, maybe a failed egg, one w/o shell or a soft shell.

I have 8 Muscovy ducks 1 with ducklings so that leaves 7 who could be laying I got 1 egg yesterday none today. I think mine are having a break after laying non stop for so long. Hope it's the same with yours. Sorry to hear about your dad, hope he feels better real soon and your guinea pig too.
