What kind of cat is a "good mouser"

I have had several cats over the years and my males were my best mousers. Ironically it was the sweeties that were good mousers. My more "wild" cats tended to wander and "mouse" too far away from my house and never caught anything in my house .My more lovies and pet-like kitties have caught everything in my house-mice-bats anything that moves. We recently had a baby snake delivered to the door by our kitty.
Woo-Hoo(sarcasm)

I didn't read all the responses yet, but agree w/ you on this. Any male cats we've had would just play w/ the mice, if anything. We even had a pair that the female would go chase and kill mice, and bring it back obediently to the male.

I got 6 kittens from under our shed one year. 2 girls and 4 boys. We got 3 of them adopted and kept the other 3 (2 boys and 1 girl). The little girl was the last one to be caught. She bit my hand, and was no friend for quite some time. After around 4 months and a LOT of patience to took to me. Now, at 6 years old, she is friendly with the whole family.
One day she took out the hamsters (R.I.P.) and thats when she became an indoor out door cat. She also kills snakes and rats. There is an over grown lot behind our property that used to packed with them. Now the only mice we ever see are the freshly deceased! Her brothers tag team and catch the birds. One scares it out of the tree and the other catches. One of the brothers spends his whole day out hunting.
All are American short hairs AKA barn cats. We also spayed and neutered them so no more surprises.
